What is a Public Data model update? 

A Public Data model update is any update/change to the integration of public data sources in the Federation / RDS data model, including, but not limited, to configuration changes of canonical types, facets or properties, and public data source inclusion (adding/removal). What is the possible impact of a Public Data model update?

This list below summarizes the changes that might be observed in DISQOVER after a Public Data model update and the possible impact linked to these changes.  

  • Change (increase/decrease) in numbers of instances 
    • Open dashboards give updated results for the used query.
    • Watched dashboards for a query show update on added/removed instances.
    • Collections contain instances that no longer exist.
  • Change in values for instances
    • Open dashboards give updated results for the used query.
    • Watched dashboards for a query show update on added/removed instances.
  • Change in values of a filter containing linked instances
    • Open dashboard filtering on removed linked instances gives no results.
  • Change in configuration of data types
    • Search templates contain a canonical type that no longer exists.
  • Change in configuration of facets 
    • Discovery paths on search template cannot be accessed.
    • Dashboard templates contain facets that no longer exist.
    • Open dashboard filtering on removed facet gives no results.
  • Change in configuration of properties
    • Open dashboard  filtering on removed property gives no results.

Note: Public Data Model updates may have an impact on local pipelines and templates. Depending on the criticality, a federation-beta server will be set up to facilitate the transition to the new model. The criticality will be estimated by Ontoforce.
